Tim Bailey

I’m Tim Bailey and I am passionate about building digital-first organisations and applying digital technologies to product and process innovation. I encourage improvement and innovation through the horizontal transfer of ideas between sectors. I take a technology agnostic approach to identifying effective and economic solutions for the problems faced by client organisations.

I have led numerous digital transformation projects including digital newsrooms, content management systems (CMS), ecommerce, workflow and business processes, and contact relationship management systems (CRM). I work with a range of agile delivery methodologies (such as Waterfall, Scrum and Kanban) to deliver effective and profitable projects. My experience in project delivery means I lead project discovery to agree business objectives and identify where digital transformation will be most effective.

Tim leads Purposeful Relations’ communication technology practice.

My background in science and research enables me to help our clients apply data and analytics to improve communications, public relations and corporate affairs.

I was one of the world’s first heads of technology and innovation at a PR agency where I developed numerous ground-breaking digital projects. These included some of the world’s first social media newsrooms, including multi-language global platforms for Philips and Sony Ericsson. The technology solutions I developed contributed to 15% of the company’s revenue.

I led a £1 million+ project for a membership organisation to design and deliver website integration using an architecture and approach that enabled a £300k implementation saving on initial projections.

My leadership roles in digital agencies means I’ve extensive experience in developing collaborative cultures and the professional development of colleagues and team members through mentoring and coaching.

I have worked across multiple industry sectors both directly and as clients. These sectors include retail, publishing, finance, universities, trade and professional associations, government and the voluntary and third sectors.

My technology and vendor agnostic approach means I’ve worked with a wide range of commercial and open-source technologies to solve a range of business challenges. These include corporate websites, content management systems, ecommerce for multi-million B2C and B2B companies, organisational change, databases, work scheduling, large dataset analysis, membership management systems, design and user experience, email and server infrastructure, workflow systems, iOS and Android apps and much more.
