I’m Stuart Bruce and I’m passionate about innovation in public relations and communication. It’s what drives me to keep learning and to share that learning and experience to help develop the future of PR and corporate affairs.
As well as being the co-founder of Purposeful Relations I am also the founder and CEO of Stuart Bruce Associates, a boutique crisis communications, reputation management and corporate affairs consultancy.
I’ve been innovating in public relations and communications since the early 90s and am internationally recognised as a PR Futurist. This means as well as advising clients all around the world I also trot around the globe (or Zoom!) to give speeches at conferences, comment in the media, give TV interviews and provide insight and quotes for business books.
I am a chartered public relations practitioner and a fellow of the CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) and AMEC (International Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of Communications). As an AMEC fellow I lead Purposeful Relations’ measurement practice.
I volunteer my time to develop the PR and communication profession around the world. I sit on the global Executive Committee of the World Communication Forum Association in Davos and have served on the PR Council of the PRCA (Public Relations and Communications Association) and a board director of the CIPR.
I’ve moderated and spoken the World Communication Forum in Davos and some of my keynote speeches include: Global Crisis Communications Summit of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in Istanbul; the Economic Times Corporate Communications Summit in Mumbai; Global Alliance’s PR in Emerging Economies in Nairobi.
My 30+ year career includes co-founding one of the UK’s first digital PR consultancies and in two years, growing it to a PRWeek Top 150 consultancy; in-house stints at international business advisers Grant Thornton and the Labour Party; director of communications for two senior cabinet rank UK politicians; and ten years as an international business adviser and trainer.
I also volunteer as a judge for industry awards and, over the years, have judged numerous awards, including as international chair of the jury for the Davos Communications Awards 2021. Other awards I’ve judged include CIPR, AMEC, Communicate DataComms Awards and the global SABRE Awards run by PRovoke Media.
I’ve lectured at Leeds Beckett University in the UK and Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University in the Netherlands. I teach a range of post-graduate professional qualifications for the CIPR, PRCA and AMEC. I have also developed and delivered numerous professional training workshops and masterclasses for the CIPR.
I have authored industry reports, and contributed chapters and sections to numerous business books on a broad range of topics from communications strategy and social media to measurement and crisis communications.
